Riverside Community Church is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA was formed in 1974 and adopted the Westminster Confession of Faith, Larger and Shorter Catechisms (1647AD) as its secondary standards, the Bible itself being the only infallible rule of faith and practice. Officers in the Presbyterian Church in America take a vow to “sincerely receive and adopt” these confessional documents “as containing the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures.” You may find these documents on the PCA’s website here: Westminster Confession of Faith.

Worship is offering our lives back to God through Jesus. We believe that our greatest spiritual growth happens through our private and public worship of God. As such, worship is at the heart of everything we do, and it is the first step in our process of helping place people in the pathway of God’s transforming power. Our worship is grounded in the gospel of grace and the authority of the Holy Bible.

Romans 1:16-17 – I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Ephesians 2:8-10 –  “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

II Timothy 3:16 –  “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…”

Discipleship is following Jesus and becoming increasingly like Him. Jesus told his disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations teaching them to obey everything I have commanded.” The goal of having a relationship with God is ultimately to worship Him by “presenting every man mature in Christ.”  We will assist people in growing in spiritual maturity through our life-to-life equipping ministries, that seek to utilizethe gifts and strengths of each of our members as we seek to multiply all that the Lord blesses us with.

I Corinthians 12:7 – “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

Service means extending the mission (the redemptive purposes) of God through the activities of His people. Jesus calls us to serve others sacrificially, just as He came to serve us. As people grow into spiritual maturity, one of our goals is to get them actively involved in mission by serving with our ministry teams. In Philippians 2:5-7, the Apostle Paul exhorts us – “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” We want to serve others as Jesus serves us. We want to make such a deep impact in the culture of Cartersville that if we were to leave suddenly, our absence would be noticed and missed dearly. This is why our ministry of service is highlighted by “A Welcoming Spirit” and what we call “Incarnational Ministry.”

Matthew 21:14-16 – “The blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, and he healed them.  The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles and heard even the children in the Temple shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David.” But  the leaders were indignant.  They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.”

John 1:14 – The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
